The Be SMART campaign is a public education program of Everytown for Gun Safety. Be SMART was launched in 2015 to promote responsible gun ownership in order to reduce child gun deaths. Whether you’re a gun owner, or you know someone who owns a gun, there is a role for everyone in the conversation around secure gun storage. Be SMART is a framework that parents, caretakers, and community leaders can follow to help keep their communities safe. Ultimately, you can help prevent kids from accessing firearms by storing them securely, and encouraging others to do the same. Because children deserve to feel safe, no matter where they are. Here is how to Be SMART: Secure all guns; Model responsible behavior around guns; Ask about the presence of unsecured guns in other homes; Recognize the role of guns in suicide; and Tell everyone you know to Be SMART. besmartforkids.org

The Network of Neighbors is a trauma response program located within the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS). The Network provides support to ANY community, including Philadelphia neighborhoods, that have been impacted by any overwhelmingly stressful incident or ongoing experience. The supports are guided group discussions that are facilitated using an evidence-informed model called Post Traumatic Stress Management (PTSM). This model addresses the impact of ongoing stress and its impact on the body. The discussions are not therapy, or clinical interventions, and they are not support groups or training. The discussions provide an opportunity and a safe space for participants to share their experience and how it is impacting them. All support offered is confidential and voluntary; no one is asked to participate if they choose not to. All of the support, training & workshops we offer are FREE.
