A Walk 4 Peace

On June 28th, hundreds turned out for the 21st Celebration of Mothers In Charge, an organization that has been working for all those years to promote peaceful conflict resolution, uplift those who grieve the loss of loved ones, and spur people to take action to stop the gun violence. Along with Peace Not Guns the event was planned to inspire and energize the crowd with appearances by Mayor Cherelle Parker, State Senator Sharif Street, and an incredible fashion show; a “walk for peace” down the runway by fabulous mothers in honor of their loved ones. The evening was moderated by radio personality Patty Jackson. We salute Mothers In Charge for their 21 years of work. Dr. Dorothy’s son was murdered by gun over 21 years ago because of a dispute over a parking spot. The unbelievably senseless taking of his life spurred her on to do this good work. We fervently hope that her work, and ours, will not be needed in the future as we move toward a more sensible relationship with guns in our communities and our country. Thank you Dr. Dorothy!
