Remembering “Bill the Thrill”
Sheila Ward, with “her” artist, Sally Benton, at her side, bravely addressed the large crowd at the opening event for the 8th annual Philadelphia Chapter exhibition on November 1, 2024, in beautiful Widener Hall at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, as captured in the video below. She also reflected on her son in the catalog accompanying the exhibition: “William Ward Jr Was a Son, Husband and excellent Father and great friend....As a child he was always helping people. A true Humanitarian, at 13 he gave out food and bread with his school to families in need. He loved playing sports. As a teen he played Baseball in neighborhood Strawberry Mansion. In his teen years he played Football for Roman Catholic High School (Bill the Thrill Ward). He's in the Roman Catholic HALL OF FAME... William went from high school to Attend Cheney University where he has a scholarship for Football...He went on to buying and renovated home... William was full of Life and could make a room light up when he walked in the room...Lil children loved him because he was always running after them playing and giving them goodies ice cream truck comes all the kid's got ice cream even the elderly people...he was always sticking up for the person who was being bullied. A true Humanitarian and Gift to the World...2005 the World lost a Wonderful person. His friends still hurt and cry when they talk about him.
