Farewell to Chrissy!
After helping us get our ducks in a row and staying with us in the temporary, part-time position of administrative assistant, Chrissy Ngugi is moving on! She was with us for two and a half years and, by making our social media presence robust, was an antidote for the pandemic that had a crippling effect on so many organizations and saw the gun violence escalate. We are so very grateful for her service to this Project and this mission and we wish her all the best in her next pursuits. Here are her own words describing her experience with us and her plans for the future:
“Thank you to the Souls Shot Portrait Project for allowing me to participate and work for such an important cause. Gun Violence is truly an ongoing problem in this country and working for this organization has opened my eyes to the perspectives of the families and friends of gun violence who are often overlooked by the media, press and the eyes of Americans. It has brought me joy to see how much of a difference the portraits and exhibitions can bring some peace and joy to families and friends who have been affected by gun violence. As a person who was robbed at gunpoint last year, I honestly am still reeling from this horrible experience and have a true appreciation for coming out of it safely. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many innocent victims of gun violence and it will continue to break my heart that we live in a country where such senseless acts of violence continue to take place day in and day out.
I will forever be grateful for my time working with the artists, hosts, volunteers, board of directors, and families and friends of gun violence, who continues to work relentlessly for this great organization. This organization will remain dear to my heart. I am glad I was able to help spread the message further about the epidemic of gun violence through my administrative work, fundraising work and social media work for the Souls Shot Portrait Project for the past two and half years.
I am also a book reviewer and often read many books on race, social justice, and much more. You can follow my reviews through my website at Chrissy's Books. I also am an avid traveler and my hope is to encourage more people of color to safely traverse the great outdoors. You can follow my journey on Chrissy on the Move.
Thank you once again.”
Our heartfelt thanks to you, Chrissy! You will be sorely missed.
Thank you Chrissy Ngugi!!
