Taking Our Message Farther
We would like our participants and our supporters to know that we have had a considerably larger number of family members and friends of people affected by gun violence contact us to participate in the Souls Shot Portrait Project this year.
Some of those people, and some of the artists, are from areas outside of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. We have decided to accept all who have answered our invitations and calls to participate.
We will be dividing the exhibition scheduled for 2021-22 into at least two groups. One will travel to host venues mostly in the greater Philadelphia area and one will premiere in New Jersey and travel in that state and possibly Delaware and other areas.
As the pandemic winds down (hopefully) in the coming months, we will continue to schedule host venues and we will continue to post specific details on where and when to see the exhibitions.
We will do our best to make sure family members and friends will be able to see the exhibitions in at least one venue that will not be prohibitively far away.
The goal of the Souls Shot Portrait Project is to have as many viewers as possible experience our exhibitions and "get to know" these souls who have been lost to us or whose lives have been forever altered. We are grateful that you share our passion in this pursuit and thank you for your patience as we expand the project.
The enormous increase in the number of shootings since the pandemic has disrupted all of our lives, is troubling and so very tragic. We hope to continue to touch the hearts and minds of all who will see the portraits and will then be moved to take action to end this epidemic of violence.
