One Artist's Process

Artist Rebecca Hoenig was kind enough to share some of her preliminary sketches of Nasir Sadat, the cousin of Jaidah Lee. Ms. Lee lost her dear cousin and her aunt, Bettie Jennifer, within one month of each other. We have two artists working on memorializing these two souls for our fourth edition of the exhibition.

Artists work with families and friends of the victims of gun violence in different ways. It is a difficult, emotional task for both parties. Some artists, like Rebecca, share their process as they go along and welcome input from the family member or friend they are working with.

We will show more of her images leading up to the final portrait in the days to come.
